Although Niclas Füllkrug’s football career has been full of ups and downs, the Hannover native has spent his whole professional life in Germany. Niclas Füllkrug began his youth career at TuS Ricklingen when he was just a 4-year-old and spent 8 long years shaping his basic skillset and proficiency in the beautiful game. He was then promoted to Sportfreunde Ricklingen and spent one year there before his breakthrough transfer.
Füllkrug’s transfer to the youth setup of Werder Bremen in 2006 would mark a significant decision for his career. After a couple of years at Werder Bremen’s U17 side, Fulkrug would go on to be promoted multiple times for the German side. 3 years of hard work and dedication later, Niclas would finally get promoted to Werder Bremen’s second team in 2012 and his influence there was eye-catching to say the least. This led him to get the call for Werder Bremen’s first team and his career really began to kick off from that moment.
Fun fact: Niclas Füllkrug once ended up hospitalized after the tooth of one of his teammates got wedged in his forehead following an accident at the Werder Bremen training ground.
Füllkrug would then move to Greuther Fürth on a loan transfer to hone in on his skillset and develop his own play style. He would go on to make a couple of moves to 1.FC Nuremberg and Hannover 96 before he returned to his boyhood club, Werder Bremen in 2019.

But this time, Niclas was better than ever. He steadily established himself in the team’s starting lineup and consistently performed at the highest level. He managed to score a total of 49 goals and provide 16 assists in just 124 appearances for Werder Bremen. He was awarded the “Rising Star of the Year” award for his 2023 season at Werder Bremen and also shared the Bundesliga Top Scorer award with Christopher Nkunku in the 2022/23 season with 16 goals each.
