Andriy Lunin started his professional career at the age of 13 in the youth setup of a local Ukrainian club, FC Metalist Kharkiv. He spent four years there and began establishing himself as the club’s first-team goalkeeper. 

After developing lightning-fast reflexes and incredible shot-stopping abilities, he moved to FC Dnipro and made his professional debut for them at the tender age of 17 in the Ukrainian Premier League. Andriy Lunin etched his name as one of the youngest goalkeepers to grace such a high level in Ukraine.

Dnipro manager Dmytro Mykhaylenko praised the youngsters’ confidence on the ball in an interview where he said,

Unfortunately, Dnipro was relegated from the Ukrainian Premier League which led Lunin along with four other players (Oleksandr Svatok, Yevhen Cheberko, Vladyslav Kocherhyn, and Maksym Lunyov) to get transferred to Zorya Luhansk in 2017 where he signed a two-year contract.

After making 36 appearances for the Ukrainian side, Andriy Lunin was approached by his dream club with an offer he could not reject. He joined Real Madrid in 2018 from the Ukrainian side for a transfer move worth €8.50m.

It seemed as if his career was spiraling down, but after his 1-year loan spell at Real Oviedo ended in 2020, Lunin returned to Real Madrid more focused and dedicated than ever. He has now made a total of 45 appearances for Real Madrid at the time of writing, but his latest outings have emerged as the highlight of his professional journey.
